Interpreter. In the zen proverb « The finger shows the moon, the fool looks at the finger », the fool fails to play his role
as interpreter of a sign S able to grasp the referent T : the moon. By extension, the being indicates a human subjectivity, a person. The signifiers (S) can have a phenomenal dimension (auditive, visual or tactile images) and the referents T (singular objects of discourses) can eventually be found in the physical world and be addressed by spatio-temporal coordinates.
But the signified of a signifier can be found only in an interpreter's mind.
